The short answer is yes! Plus you have forward error correction counts in the log. If you want to reduce your latency for game play ask idnet to have it turned off, otherwise you probably  won't see any difference in actual throughput with it on/off. I had interleave removed several months ago and it has not caused any problems so far.

165 FECs in a hour and a half is minimal so you shouldn't get any issues from having it turned off :)

Definitely get interleaved turned off with stats like that.

When mine was turned off my stats were ...

Interleaved
Attenuation 26
Noise margin around 10
Sync 7616
Download ~ 6.2-6.3
Profile 6500

And now ...

Fast
Attenuation 26
Noise margin around 9
Sync 8128
Download ~ 6.9-7.0
Profile 7150

Obviously speeds and NM can fluctuate at times but on the whole pretty consistent. Sync is always rock solid at 8128
Ted
There's no place like 127.0.0.1

Sebby

Great line, get interleaving switched off. :)

uxbod

Is it worth having interleaved removed ???

Does your router show FEC errors at all? Also, the uptime would be good so we can make a proper judgement. :)

No FEC errors ... would show uptime but it is about 2 mins at the moment ;) had to make a call to IDNet support as BT broke my config :(

Indeed Rik ... they dropped me from the GW6 realm, so IDNET switched me back to GW5 ... this morning I applied a IOS change to the rebooter and it would no longer connect.  After speaking to James, BT had removed GW5 and added in GW6 when they were told to allow GW5 or 6  AFE (work that acronym out ;))

Rik

Oh how I know that feeling, BT messed up my migration, cut me off from Nildram and failed to connect me to IDNet.  :shake:

Yup, so he is been working fine for a year now so lets just change something to confuse him  Due respect to IDNET support :) Even Simon answered the phone today  :P

I have 8128 sync but with interleaving on. Does that make sense?

Sebby

It does. Some exchanges still connect at 8,128k with interleaving on, depending on the manufacturer of the equipment.

looks like a email to support then  :thumb:

well I've requested for interleaving to be switched off, received a reply saying it should be in the next 24 hrs.  will I have to reboot the router or will it "sort itself out"?

From memory it will sort itself out, but you may need to reboot to get the higher sync :)

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
    Your DSL connection rate: 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 6500 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 6052 kbps

Just gotta wait for the profile to sort it self now!

Shall we start a petition to abolish them since they serve no purpose?

Rik

It would be nice, wouldn't it. :)
