Noticed something odd, just started happening this evening. Somehow my theme had changed from Skyline to idnetters v2, on its own  ???

I changed it back in "look and layout", now when i log in it is Skyline but when i log out it reverts to idnetters v2. It never used to do that ???

I've tried clearing cookies, cache etc, to no avail. Any ideas?

There's no place like 127.0.0.1

Sebby

Due to a "technical glitch" the default theme has been changed to IDNet v2, so that's the reason you see that theme when you are logged out. Sorry for the inconvenience - things should be back to normal soon. :)

I don't think we realised that existing members would be affected, and it's only when you log out that you see the 'v2' theme, as the forum doesn't know which theme you have chosen, until you log back in again.

Anyone who wants to change back to Skyline can do so, as the issue only affects 'Guests', or members who are not logged in.  :)

I was convinced that it would only show when people were logged out, Ted.

I land on unread posts and automatically log in.

The board shows me as already logged in and yet my theme is changed too

Edit.  it changed overnight, when i return after a short break I stay with the correct theme

What is the date of the referendum for England to become an independent country ?

Rik

What happens if you go to the front page, rather than straight to posts, Alan? We're puzzled by what's happened as the majority of members have not had the theme changed (which is what was intended), but a handful have.

Sounds daft and i can't really see how but, could it be a Linux thing? As you may recall i use Linux and so does Alan, although i'm not sure if he uses it full time.

Just a thought :)

It's possible, Ted, but I'm not sure how. The settings for the theme choice are retained in the forum profile for each member, ie on the server, so shouldn't be affected by anything on the users' machine. The only function of the cookie is to keep people logged in, so unless something weird is going on with that which we don't know about, the OS should have no impact.

The change I made was that the default theme would be IDNet v2 (as we call it), but that it wasn't a 'forced' change, so nobody's profile setting should have altered. However, roughly 100 people out of 1300 did get changed.  :dunno:

Yes a puzzle, still, no harm done but it is curious how it only affected some people.

This "server" you speak of, its name wouldn't be "Trevor", would it?

Trevor is still dead, last time I checked, Ted. ;D The forum runs on Samson, sadly, there is no Delilah. :)

Mine changed, the present one is all mucked up when viewed as logged out for me anyway some of the text overlaps the coloured block at the top, the text "session length" is partly in the mini user centre coloured block. I have selected skyline when logged in anyway.
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Rik

We're not sure, at this point, what broke, Gary.

Let's blame Sebby, as he's not here to defend himself. Probably laying low.

Yesterday I changed my profile, is it possible that has caused the problem.

Did anyone else reporting the problem change their profile too ?

Even more weird, Alan. Can you try clearing the cache and cookie on the affected machine?

It shouldn't affect anything, but I wouldn't rule it out as we can't explain what has happened. Currently, you are on Skyline.
