I have been looking for a site that shows data loss / breaches and have finally found what i was looking for. The link below shows data lost in the uk in desc order of date. Thought it might be of interest to some on here. No ranting please :) interesting none the less

Frightening. Where does the data come from? What's scary is there's probably a whole lot more that isn't known about.

thats guranteed. As far as i'm aware if breaches occur over here and the relevant parties are not informed some very hefty fines are imposed if it comes to light...

i think one of the relevant party's is the information commisioner's office

then again, this say's different. http://www.tltsolicitors.com/resources/publications/dataprotectionandprivacy/databreachnotificationproposalsapr09/

i'm sure i've read of fines. Perhaps that is just if they don't notify the commisioner, not the person or people who's data it was...

bit more here http://www.itproportal.com/portal/legal-it/article/2009/2/24/privacy-watchdogs-repeat-call-data-breach-notification-law/ nothing solid though

I'll have to give that a read. :thumb:

finally

the fines are issued in the US at present, just not here yet ....

Why is it that, in this country, regulators always seem to be working to protect big organisations, not the individual? :(
