I ordered a DG834G from Amazon as I have a prime account so I get free delivery.Hoping it would be a v4 which has Apple certified compatibility with mobile me and Back to my mac. What did I receive? a DG834GT. The Netgear package box clearly states DG834G however printed in the top right corner its says now something like upgrade now compatible with 108mbps wireless. Inside the box is a DG834GT

Why did I want one?  UPNP issues on DG834N with WHS and Apple mobile me BTMM and also irritating DHCP server crashes.

Shall I send it back? UPNP and mobile me is working fine and strangely whether its related or not today my pings to www.idnet.net have returned to their previous level of below 20ms.

I suspect I'll keep it. I don't need N wireless as I've a bridged Time capsule for that.

Was it through Amazon themselves, or a market place seller, Steve?

UPNP = evil :)

Maybe, but when it works life's so much easier when it occasionally works.

I think I will. Its just the hassle of sending it back especially since it seems to fulfill the reasons for change in the first place.

Amazon will collect, Steve, at no cost to you. I found the process very efficient the one time I needed to use it.

Ask them why they supplied it, then, Steve. That will give you some 'hold' time while you make your mind up.

Yep, that's what I'd do. The DG834GT is actually quite a well thought of router.

I've got a GT and I think it's great.  Very easy to setup and performs really well.  But if I were in your shoes it might have to go back as it just isn't what was ordered.

Steve

I agree it works very well,if I bought a dg834GT from Amazon its £15 more at present.

Enclosed poor quality picture,if its decipherable , you see the label is DG834g but see top right

Glenn

I would think the error is more Netgear's than Amazon, as they pack the boxes

Thats where I bought my V4 from which is what I wanted and it was a good price compared to other suppliers where you took pot luck as to what version you got.

I don't think its a mistake Glen. I think its intentional and misleading.

It seems that the GT is the same as a v4 except with the better wireless, so you got a good deal anyway. :)
