Thanks, Paul. I shall quietly not concern myself. ;)

It's quite an improvement to Vista, from what I've seen. :thumb:

My PC is quicker and it wasnt slow in the first place. So MS must of done something correct this time!

Rik

That's good to hear, Paul. Does everything work OK?

Yep, everything works ok.

It actually fixed a problem. When using photoshop, click file > new would hang the PC but it doesnt now.

I had the opposite problem with SP3 on XP, Den, it failed on my laptop but installed on the other machines. Windows, huh.  :dunno:

Still will not install on my desktop  ::) I have tried turning Kaspersky off but it made no difference at all, also saved the update onto my desktop and ran from there.  HELP.
Mr Music Man.

merlin

installed sp2 yesterday on my laptop, other than a 30 sec black screen delay, at boot up,(which was not there before) not noticed any difference

but the "black hole" gives me time to contemplate the universe, or think about where i left my glasses !!!

Apparently the latest ESET v4 utilities are having problems with SP2 so I'll be holding off until they release an update....

Eset recommend going back to V3 its pretty bad that they have had SP2 for so long to play with, yet still released a product not compatible with it, they have a statement up here http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=NEWS30 SP2 is an improvement but I am not seeing anything amazing really it was quick before on my machine.
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Lance

I've got V4 anti-virus only on one machine (vc3 on other) and not had any problems - I must be lucky!

Downloading now as I want to see if there's been any improvement to application switching which is horrible on this machine.

Installed!

The only noticeable difference so far is even more disk churning. I think I need to see what settings have been changed.

Afaik, it's only Vista x64 SP2 that's having trouble with NOD32. Is that right?

Rik

I thought it was Vista x32 SP2 and NOD 4.

Problem reports in Vista told me to uninstall Adobe Flash Player and then down load the latest version as this might be stopping sp2 from installing. Its been uninstalling for nearly 1 hour, seems an awful long time to me.  :o

Disable the restore point that gets created on startup, and tweak indexing to only index the locations you really want.

zappaDPJ

It's all on the to do list Sebby, it appears the installation has changed rather a lot of settings back to default. As an example I was just looking at a video file thinking this makes no sense at all only to realise it should have had audio but SP2 has changed my default sound output to something I don't use.

Failed again. I uninstalled and installed Abobe flash player and abobe reader. Installed a new graphic card (because I wanted to) and it still failed.

E_FAIL(0x80004005)    any one know what that is?
Mr Music Man.

D-Dan

I have to say - I haven't noticed any discernible change between SP1 and SP2 on Vista 64.

Steve
Have I lost my way?

Simon

I'm dreading turning my laptop on now!  ;D
