Nope. Passive mode is ticked, though.

Same here. Port 21?

Yep. It uploads several files, then disconnects. Then it waits 10 seconds, tries again, sometimes reconnects and if so, uploads a few more files and then stops again and repeats the process. It's been driving me nuts this morning.

Sebby

Could it be that particular server? Could you try something else?

Unfortunately switching to gw5 has yielded little gain. I'm stuck with 3Mb where as before with the working gw6 I was constantly getting 6.95Mb.

Hopefully last night was a blip. I'm back to my usual speed with gw5.

As Sebby says, can you eliminate the server from the equation by trying another site. Could we check that server for you (ie would you be comfortable giving one of us access?).

I wonder if your profile had taken a hit?

Its my IDNet space I am uploading to, but I will try one of my website servers and report back. :thnks:

Rik

We've been busy FTPing to the forum server all morning with no problems. I'll just go check my webspace. BRB.

Just put a couple of large files up there, no problems at this end.

Thats what I initially thought with me disconnecting and reconnecting multiple times on Thursday night (I was trying to get the speed back up). However James confirmed the profile hadn't been affected.

Rik

Another bright idea bites the dust. ;D

It's okay if I FTP individual files, but if I try and load up a whole batch of them or a folder containing files and images, I get the problem I described in my last post.

I just FTP'd the same folder with 100s of images and HTML pages to some commercial web space I have. No problem at all.
Can I take you up on your offer to test the IDNet space? Shall I PM you my FTP user name and password?

Thanks.

Rik

Yes, feel free, but I've got to stop for lunch for a moment as my stomach thinks my throat has been cut. I'll be back in 30-40 minutes.

Just an update on my particular situation.

Just tried Sky Player, BBC I Player, You Tube and all working fine without buffering. So, all is now working well with me on gw5 (nee' gw6) :thumb: Hopefully the gw6 problem will be cleared up via IDNet and things will return to normal. :fingers:

At the moment, things are enjoyable again, thanks to all for advice and help :thumb:

Rik

We are getting there, Q, :)

Archeros

Filled out a Customer Form earlier to say i was getting a similar problem and next thing i know had Simon on the phone.
Ended up sounding like an idiot because i had filled the form out instead of ringing thinking it would take ages to get a reply and would give me plenty of time to download the USRobotics EasyConfigurator (was taking forever). Still used to the Orange Broadband customer service i guess :)
He changed me over to gw5 his end and told me what to do when the download finished and we ended the call .....and then i found out the configurator was already installed on my machine, lol.
Seems things are ALOT better now :)

Anyway, gotta say im really impressed with the service (as is my Dad, and thats saying something!) thx guys

Simon

Glad it's sorted for you, Archeros.  :)

Guess I'll just wait for support to return my call... :bawl:

Hmmm, since moving to dsl4, my sync speed is the same 2656kbs which should give me a 2000kbs profile

2016 - 2271   1.75Mbps
2272 - 2847   2.0 Mbps

But I'm getting a 1750kbs, the NM etc are all unchanged

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
    Your DSL connection rate: 2656 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  832 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 1750 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1631 kbps

Not sure if it's something to do with dsl4 or BT though.

Rik

It's got to be a local sync event, Glenn, you must have had one in the 216-2271 range at some point.

How about beforehand, the profile wouldn't be affected by the realm change?

I'm on DSL4 with no issues here.

he says....touch wood, fingers crossed!  :zip:

Glenn

It was a 2000kbs profile when I was on the phone to IDNet on Friday afternoon, as we checked the throughput, before moving to dsl4. Strange, it should recover in the next few days though.
