just out of curiosity do Idnet not post the network status or any probs on the home page and do they not look in here very much and keep us updated. Isnt this what happened last time? we eventually got a bit feedback from them, cant keep going through the admins on here all time  :dunno:

Rik

I would have hoped they would have updated the status page, Baz.

Had a PPP disconnect at around 6pm tonight and for the first time in days, my pings have now stabilised back to circa 23ms (from an average 55ms with spikes of 3000ms every couple of minutes).

Hopefully gw6 has now been fixed.  :fingers:

My ping graph now looks like a babbling brook instead of a tempestuous ocean.

It's not changed, afaik, Baz, as I have the RSS feed so would have seen it there.

I don't think so. Mines up and down too. One moment I get 6-7Mb, the next test comes out as <2Mb

I joined from Zen yesterday and mine's all over the place. I was getting about 4Mb with Zen but it's ranging from 1.1 to 3.2. Every test is vastly different and getting buffering on BBC iPlayer and TV Catchup. I've got a gw6 login.

Is support open over the weekend?  :fingers:

Thanks.

Lost connection completely for about 45 minutes is it just me ?

Well, it wasn't me.  :dunno:  I think you'd better leave a message for IDNet, David, and hopefully they will pick it up over the weekend.  If it happens again, call the out of hours number straight away.  01424 476556.  :)

Any loss of service is worth reporting, David, as it could be an indicator of other problems.  :)

Oops, I really should check my voicemail more often.  :red:

Just listened to a message from Simon at IDNet (received on Friday at 11:27am) suggesting I call them in order to get me on another central.  The call from Simon was prompted just by me posting on here about my poor connection on gw6.

That's a pretty impressive example of a proactive ISP in my book and confirms my decision to stay with an honest ISP.

As gw6 has now gone bonkers again, I'll be taking up the offer of moving to a different central some time soon.

Hey ho...

Oh, shame you missed the call, Drummer.

Unfortunately switching to gw5 has yielded little gain. I'm stuck with 3Mb where as before with the working gw6 I was constantly getting 6.95Mb.

It worked for me, try rebooting your router to see if that helps, I'm back up to a throughput of 6834 right now and syncing at 8128 as usual
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Thanks. Simon (telepathic?) called before I rang the number. Unfortunately I was out, but he will get back. It seems to be getting worse this morning, though:

Hope so, it's all over the place and my FTP sessions keep breaking off.
