NB: Actual normal is nearly 7000

Now where did I put that old dial up modem!!

Have left a message on ooh support before I vanish completely.

Rik

BT seem to be having regular weekend failures these days, David, that's the third on the trot. :(

I know, David. The saga of the hostlink (WBC) reads like a comedy script rather than a business operation. :sigh:

I should have guessed from the profile, of course.  Have you asked for a move to GW5?

Simon

I've just placed a report into IDNet myself, as my connection is dire this morning:

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
    Your DSL connection rate: 5056 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  800 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 4000 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 281 kbps  :(

Have left a message on the out of hours 01462 476556.

Tried a few speedcheckers, Namesco 210,  Giganews .. stalled at 140 ... Speedtest.net ... won't even start.

Rik

James should be back to you quite soon.  :fingers:

Simon just rang and transferred me to gw5 and I am now around 7200 with Namesco.
Brilliant service as always with IDNet and a huge thankyou from me. ;D ;D ;D

Simon

Just had a call back from Simon (less than 4 minutes!), and switched to GW5.  All seems fine now, but can't do another BT test yet.

Try the Namesco one, Simon, it's usually pretty close.

Once James gets hold of you, he'll be able to do something about that. :)

Simon called and swapped me onto GW5 which has done the trick with the speed issue.
However, I am still getting FTP disconnects and freezing, so I have lobbed an email into support.

The way this place runs it almost gets sorted before you have a problem. :clever:

Rik

What client are you using?

FireFTP within Firefox. Never had a problem before.

I use that too, and it's been fine. You haven't got the IPv6 box checked on the connection tab have you?

Nope. Passive mode is ticked, though.
