QuoteThe message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '********@idnet.com'. Subject 'Re: Connection Status', Account: 'pop3.idnet.com', Server: 'smtp.idnet.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '452 4.3.1 Insufficient system storage', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 452, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

Could somebody tell me if there's currently a problem with the mail server please? It could be my connection I guess but the error message seems to be indicating otherwise.

Zap,

I'm unable to send emails, I get insufficient storage errors, did you call in the problem?

All working fine here as well  :thumb:

I am currently getting delivery delays of between 15-30 minutes on email sent via smtp.idnet.com

Rik

Someone did a massive emailing during the night which clogged up the SMTP server. That has been cleared, but there will be delays for a while as the backlog of normal traffic is cleared.

Isn't there a cap on the number of emails that can be sent in one go? :eyebrow:

Rik

Not as such, but occasionally some users do massive mailings which they shouldn't be doing via the inclusive mail service.

I didn't Glenn. At 4.00am in the morning I thought I'd let them them get a couple of hours more sleep  ;D

How's the connection today, Zap?

It's great on the upstream  ;D

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 283 kbps 1256 kbps
Line Attenuation 28.5 db 12.5 db
Noise Margin 29.95 db 7.0 db

I can just about navigate these forums with everything likely to use bandwidth on my PC turned off but if I try to get to a site with any graphics content it usually times-out.

I've just spoken to Simon and another engineer has been booked to visit this afternoon.

When you say "Massive" how big is that ? What I am trying to say, is someone using the system to send "spam" perhaps? :dunno:

Steve

I think it was classified as inappropriate use of the inclusive mail service.i.e business use on a large scale

Quotebusiness use on a large scale

But isn't that another way of saying  "spam" ?

Steve

I suppose in some situations yes it is spam however I believe that the .com email addresses are designed for personal use, SPAM I define as unsolicited bulk messages sent  indiscriminately.
