general question. when I open the more smilies link the window opens a tad small so I resize it. next time I open it its back to the small size again.

is this just a windows thing or not.

Rik

It's an SMF thing, Baz.

ah right   :thumb: cheers Rik

Ray

There's a way round it if you use FF Baz, go to Tools, Options, Tabs and select 'new pages should be opened in a new tab', it will then open as a full page instead of a small separate window.  :)

I already have that selected Ray and it still opens small. Also now you mention it, when clicking links with scroll button which normally does open in new tab, it doesnt with this smilies one I just get a blank page with  'javascript:moreSmileys();'  in the title bar

That's never worked for me, Ray. :(

That's strange, Baz, it works for me, I've had it set that way for ages because I got fed up with scrolling round the small window.

Can you paste a screen shot of those tab settings, Ray, so I can check whether there's any other differences?

strange thing now I look at it.I have it set to open in new tab but some normal links, say going to a different thread in here, are opening in the same tab.

I also run Tab Mix Plus in FF which is set the same way but makes no difference. Could it be the way the site is designed

Baz

heres the same shot from mine

Ray

When I click any links in posts it always opens in a new Tab, Baz, I don't run Tab Mix Plus though.

Thanks, Ray. Other than always showing the tab bar, I have the same settings. Turning off the latter makes no difference to the smiley pop up.

Me neither, but if I want to open a link in a new tab, I have to right click it and select 'open in new tab', but that doesn't work on the [more] link.  ???

I think the tab thing is definitely a Firefox setting, not the forum.

You can only have one 'More' window open at a time.  Does that help?

yeah I see there's different options with a right click on the more link Rik  :dunno:

is it any thing to do with it being Javascript

Rik

We think it's an SMF thing, Baz.

Well it's not Tab Mix Plus causing the problem, I've just installed that and mine still works as it should, links open in a new tab.  ???

Strange, Rik, if I right click on the [more] link I get the option to 'open in a background tab', if I click this it opens a new tab containing a blank page.

Do you use the QR box, Ray, or the standard reply? I've just discovered that I can re-size the smiley popup for the standard reply (let me know what you think of the size), but not for the QR box. Investigating.

I have the same settings as you and I do not have that option, Ray  ??? I can forceall wndows to be the same size using adMuncher though, but not in FF

I normally use the QR box, Rik, unless I want to attach an image to my reply.  :) The standard reply windows looks better at that size.

Now I'm even more confused. I've re-sized the popup and it's working if I use standard reply (including PMs). On the QR, though, it remains the old size...

Thats better Rik  :thumb: but I don't have the right click setting Ray has I wonder why  :dunno:

Rik

I don't either, Gary. Whether it's down to an addon I don't know. Right now, I'm trying to figure out what's different between the standard reply box and the QR one in this respect.

That is odd, it would be great to have it bigger on QR as thats what I use the most

Ray

This gets more bizarre, I've just tried this on FF on another machine and the [more] link wont open in a new tab it opens in a new window, but other links will open in a new tab. Setting on FF on my other machine are exactly the same.  ???

So that's the same as Gary and me, Ray? Can you right click and check the properties. It should be javascript:moreSmileys();, will open in same window.

I've solved the tab problem, Rik, if you are using Tab Mix Plus in Options make sure that Javascript popups is set to 'Open all popups in tabs' then your [more] link will open in a new tab.  :thumb:

Me neither, Ray. Nonetheless, the forum is using two bits of code to form that window, I need to find the second one...
