ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 21735 kbps 1235 kbps
Line Attenuation 16.0 db 6.7 db
Noise Margin 6.1 db 6.7 db

IF it stays like this I'll be well chuffed!

Will let you know how it goes over the coming week or so and once it's settled down I hope to post in the WBC succesful connections thread.

The BT engineer must have been on some serious overtime as he upgraded our line at around 12.30am!

DAB Badboy

Just out of curiosity, do you know your line length  ..?

I hope to go up to 24 meg next Spring and am hoping for something similar here (based on my current 8 Meg connection with a 1.5 k line length).

PuncH

Not sure on my line strength to be honest but these are the full downstream stats from Routerstats;

Noise Margin:     6.2   dB
Connection Rate:  21707  Kbps
Line Attenuation: 16.0  dB
Power:            0.0  dBm
Max Rate:         24588  Kbps

SF:               236985
SF Errors:        473
Reed Solomon:     0
RS Corrected:     0
RS Un-Corrected:  0
HEC:              433
Errored Seconds:  382
Severe ES:        16
Interleave Depth: 1

Rik

Line length is about 1.5-2km. Many BT migrations are done on the night shift, it's easier for BT to work when there's little traffic and fewer people likely to complain. ;)

Just one little hiccup so far.

Currently synced as follows;

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 21707 kbps 1203 kbps
Line Attenuation 16.0 db 6.7 db
Noise Margin 6.2 db 6.4 db

Rik

That's just the normal settling of the line, you'll probably see a few more over the coming days. :)

Will be interesting to see what happens this evening when it gets busier.

Rik

Let's put it this way, you've probably already seen the fastest sync speed you will ever get. :) Have you done a speed test yet?

I have done a speedtest using thinkbroadbands test and it came back as 14mb downstream. Haven't been able to get onto BT's yet as it reckons it's busy  :eyebrow:

I don't use speedtest.net....it's awful and bugged to, well...er buggery!

I'll do one in a bit. Just downloading a 1.2gb file on my xbox.

Rik

Well, that shouldn't take long. ;D

Download is about the same as I've always had but upload and ping seem pretty good.

Rik

I wonder if your profile hasn't shifted?

Could be. Once I can get onto BT I'll post the result from there.

Sebby

It does sound like a profile problem.

PuncH

Just got back home to find that I'm now synced at 21803, so it's gone up  :dunno:

PuncH

BT site still busy allegedly! So I did another Speed.io test

Everything is spot on except that download speed.

PuncH

If it is the profile is that something that will be changed automatically or will I need to give IDNet a quick ring on Monday?

(OK, I'll own up, I have left a message on their out of ours number but said it wasn't urgent  ;))

Rik

They won't touch that till Monday, Jonathan. :) It may be a stuck profile, in which case give them a ring if it hasn't changed by Monday, but ideally get some BT test results first.

I'll try but every time I try BT it says "test error - the system is currently busy". I've never had an issues with it before.

Rik

Try doing it from IE if you're not already.
