At 6pm this evening, Apple released iPhone OS 3.0. I couldn't wait to get home - I thought their server would turn to jelly, but it was fine. :)

Anyone else? I'm loving the new features. ;D

Cut, copy and paste, Spotlight search, MMS, and landscape keyboard across all apps are the main ones, and really good changes.

I forgot to mention, you'll need to ensure you have the latest iTunes (8.2) to get this update.

Rik

Not to mention an iPhone, of course. ;)

I've downloaded it to my iPod Touch, seems very good, liking the search feature and shake to shuffle.

Just waiting for Friday to come, along with my new iPhone 3GS 8)

Yeh i'm still using the simplicity sim, had to change a few settings after doing the update to get the internet back on my phone.

I've not tried MMS yet, will let you know when i do.

Steve

Thanks Paul, still wondering whether to buy or lease. I do enjoy the value of the simplicity sim £20/month and unlimited web data.

Thats why i bought a pay&go phone. iPhone tariffs are rubbish.

I can send MMS even though iPhone says its failed but i can't receive yet. I'll phone o2 tomorrow to find out whats going on and what settings i need to use. I have to admit, the iPhone/Simplicity support on o2 is quite good.

Lance

I'm getting my new iphone on Friday woo!

From what i know, its the search tool on the mac which appears to work in a similar way to the search box on the start menu in vista.

Gary

Does the new 3gs have a place so you can slot a maglite on on the side to take pictures in the dark? I suppose you could also say it has flash-lite support then as well   ;)  :hehe:
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

I'm waiting a while before i upgrade (if you can call it that  :P)

Lance

I don't blame you Paul. From what I know, the differences aren't that big. The timing of thos release was just right though seeing my old phone packed up yesterday!

So far I'm more than happy with the phone but can anyone recommend a decent case? I like the look of the leather flip ones.

I've no doubt they have ways to track the phone's usage, Steve.

Apparently not. Browsing the web on your phone or using it as a modem appears the same to O2. I suspect what they'll do is monitor usage more closely from now on.

I actually think it's disgraceful that O2 want to charge extra when we're already paying for unlimited data. That said, I have no real need/use for tethering at the moment.

Simon

OK, say, just say, I was looking to buy one of these:

Does it sync with Outlook?

Does it have a PC suite?

How easy would it be to transfer all of the ringtones, photos, etc, from another phone?

Is the touchscreen literally 'touch', or is there some kind of responsive feedback, so you know when you've clicked something?

Mine syncs with outlook (cal, address book, etc) though iTunes.

iTunes? thats the only app i use for my phone. If you dont want to use iTunes then you will most likely need to jailbreak your phone.

You have to put all your files onto your pc and use iTunes to put them on your iPhone, custom ringtones takes abit more, you have to put them into a certain format (forgot now, plenty of info on google)

Is the touchscreen literally 'touch', or is there some kind of responsive feedback, so you know when you've clicked something?
The homepage icons are just touch, but you will know you touched it as it loads straight away (no delay) using the keypad gives a "click" sound when you touch a key.

Simon

Thanks, Paul, I think that's all I needed to know.  :thumb:

It's much easier, imo, than other phones, because everything is done through iTunes. The experience is a lot nicer on a Mac, but when I had Windows, it worked very well.

The screen is literally a touchscreen, i.e. no click like on the BB Bold.
