Hi all,

I'm continuing to be somewhat disappointed, although performance is adequate for me.

My 17000 profile usually gets below 8M throughput in the evenings, and I only get the odd result above 12M at any time.

Is this par for the course?

Thanks,
Richard

WBC uses different hardware and different frequencies on the line. It will also degrade over distance. So many things can contribute, and while in general it is faster than ASDL, it can be slower on troublesome lines.

[edit] Oh, I see you have asked previously, don't think I can add to anything.
I use to have a signature, then it all changed to chip and pin.

Simon

It does sound like evening congestion, probably through the BT networks, rather than IDNet, but you can always check with them, Richard.

Could you run a BT speedtest just so we can rule out a profile issue?

My profile is 15000 and I seem to have had a very steady 13000-14000 throughput for the last few days, regardless of the time of day.

It shouldn't be the case, and suggests exchange congestion. Could you do a BT speed test and post the results, just so we can check it's not a profile issue?

rireed3

As usual.

This one's a little faster than earlier.

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
   Your DSL connection rate: 19419 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  1238 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 17000 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 10971 kbps

pings are usually about 20 ms.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I personally am not badly affected by this level of service, and I think the exchange has always been a little congested.  If it gets below 6M again, I'll contact support.

Richard

No problems there. I'd let IDNet see those results - if it's a BT issue, they can at least advise them.

Lance

Or they might be able to find out if it is exchange congestion :)

It does look like congestion to me too. With a profile of 17000 I would be expecting to see a throughput of around 15500.

Have you checked your exchange status on plusnet's exchange checker?

It just went from red to green.

Speed is a lot better today, around 12-15M   ;D

Nice one. Should start to settle down now I would imagine.
