Thought I should post this for all the iPhone users, chances are slim anyone will get caught by it, but best to have prior knwledege.

The SMS vulnerability allows an attacker to run software code on the phone that is sent by SMS over a mobile operator's network. The malicious code could include commands to monitor the location of the phone using GPS, turn on the phone's microphone to eavesdrop on conversations, or make the phone join a distributed denial of service attack or a botnet, Miller said

Apple is working to patch the vulnerability and expects to have a fix ready later this month, before Miller discusses the attack in greater detail during a planned presentation at the Black Hat USA conference in Las Vegas. Thanks, Gary. This'll probably be included in the iPhone OS 3.1, the beta of which was released yesterday.

Hopefully along with the wifi and battery issues people seem to be complaining about.

And heat as well there has been a few reports of the 3GS getting very warm indeed (Sebby I was looking at one, be shocked  ;D) I am holding off and waiting for now to see what the new updates bring.

The battery life is the only dissappointment for  me - I shouldn't have to charge me phone every day.

Battery life seems ok if you switch off everything your not using. I use wifi only at home so I turn it on and off as required. I have a poor 3g signal most of the day so that's off as well. Get the kids on the games and videos and you can see it counting down.

My irritating issue is an echo of my voice whilst using it on certain calls, not solved that yet. Perhaps we should have our most favourite/recommended apps thread.

I'm finding that battery life since updating to 3.0 is significantly worse if the phone is used heavily throughout the day. If 3G is poor in your area, it's best to disable it, otherwise a lot of battery is wasted always searching for a 3G network.

Thanks Sebby I needed to do that on my Nokia but I am so tempted after looking around for a new phone that the iPhone is now seriously tempting me

If you can wait, I'd imagine that the model that comes out next year is going to be a massive improvement. The 3GS, whilst far superior to the 3G, was more of a refresh, imo.

I am very impressed by the way the iphone just seems to work with very little fuss I haven't even bothered to read the instructions yet. Setting up the access to my works exchange server was very straight forward plus there's a myriad of additional apps. It can't multitask though which is a bit of a nuisance sometimes.

I get good 3g signals at home and work. My phone has my work push email and pulls my personal every half hour. The iPod gets about an hour and a half each day and wifi is used at home. I also leave my phone on all night v

My Blackberry also needs charging every night, and if I've been on here a lot, it sometimes doesn't even last the day.  Why can't they power these type of phones with better batteries?

I agree. It cannot be beaten, imho.

I guess the technology just isn't there in the physical dimensions needed.

I've seen higher capacity batteries for sale for the BB, but they want about £50 for one, and it isn't worth that sort of expense to me.

I get an echo of my voice when making calls on my mobile (not an iPhone).  I don't think its related to the phone, seems to be related to where I am standing when I make the call.  Tis very annoying, though..
