Just wondering if anyone is having a similar problem to me.  My browser of choice at the moment is Firefox, which I use for most of my browsing, but some of the websites we develop run only in IE, so its very common that I will have both running at the same time.  Recently (i.e. in the last few weeks, I think) I have noticed that if I start a new IE window, it becomes very unresponsive - won't load the homepage, can't use any shortcuts, status bar says 'contacting xxxx'.  I close the window and start a new one, same problem.

However, if I close FF and then try again, it works!  This doesn't happen all the time - at the moment I am happily using both, but it is happening often enough to be a pain.  JUst got FF 3.5.1 and running IE 6.

Anyone else had similar probs?

Sorry, Al, I never run the two simultaneously to have experienced it. :(

However, having just tried it, it doesn't seem to be an issue.

as a workaround you could install the ietab ext for firefox, this renders pages using the ie engine. You can then run the firefox application in firefox and ie mode. Ditching ie6 for a later version might be a good idea at some point.

Rik - its not an issue for me most of the time, but it does seem to happen.

An IE upgrade is not really an option as I need to be able to support customers using IE 6.  Might try the ietab idea..

Cheers,
Al.

Could it be a lack of RAM issue? I know that both Firefox and IE are pretty RAM hungry.

Rik

That was my next thought - time for Task Manager.
