The low ping didn't last long! It was fluctuating from 35 to 176 in COD4 (Maidenhead based server) tonight and eventually settling down to 35-60 by about 11.15pm.
I am loathe to keep rebooting the router, especially as my sync rate then drops! I will keep my eye on this and drop support an email with some tracerts etc if this does not improve soon :eyebrow:

Sebby

Yep, you must get in touch with support if it continues like this. :)

Wags

Not looking good tonight. Pings were 14-16ms earlier but now.....

I saw the previous posts and thought I would check my latency tonight before having a game and I'm quite pleased I'm looking fine. A tad higher than my best but out of the 20 pings it only varies by 2ms and look very consistent.

I had three periods of high latency (130+ ping to www.idnet.net) yesterday, it tends to be temporary and a PPPoA reconnect usually returns service to normal if you don't want to wait.

Gary

but after exhaustive scientific research, I can only conclude that its all Rik's fault (he is sucking up all the bandwidth with his thousands of forum posts)  :hehe:

Still rather erratic. I usually get around 15ms on a cmd ping test. Last night in game pings eventually settled down at about10.30pm to 35-48 (COD4).  I am a peasant on ADSL Max (for Rik's benefit). Dare I try playing tonight? :dunno:

Fox

lol, you need to be careful Rik, the peasants may revolt (note to self, change forum name to Che) and you will have to live on turkey twizzlers and pot noodles

Yup mine are back to normal now (btw Gary I live in Yorkshire, just seems strange we always seem to get ping problems at the same time)

I think it was the threat of rationing Rik that did it (one look at a Tesco value sausage and he got scared)

I am most impressed - Simon answered my email at 2.32 am!!! That is real dedication to customer service! :thumb:

QuoteUnfortunately, on occasions, we see that the traffic into us from BT
has become un-balanced in that a single pipe has attracted too much
traffic. We are continually working at keeping our BT pipes balanced
but, when you experience such congestion, a reboot of your router
should force your session onto a different pipe until we get the
balancing corrected. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Regards
Simon

I will pop home at lunchtime and give the router a hard reboot and hope this sorts the problem.
