Have you tried isolating the router from all but one machine on your LAN, to eliminate any background processes?

I have. I must admit, I'm wondering if the router is bogging down when there's a lot of LAN traffic. The router needs replacing anyway for something a bit more robust, so we'll see what happens. :)

Everything is fine up here in sunny Yorkshire. My router displayed similar symptoms just before it died last week. Got a Netgear DGN2000 to replace it and all is well again. I have had nice low pings since the move to the new hostlink.

Thanks, Fox, think I'm going to order a Draytek Vigor 2820VSn for work as it has ISDN failback too.
