I'd have it checked for worms while you're at it. ;D

Don't make me more stressed.  ;D

You may find it difficult to believe how much of a 'problem' it was for me to open it up just for pinging.  ::)

I my throughput was 4-5 Mb below profile it would be negative.

I was getting about 3.5Mb download until about 10 days ago when it suddenly dropped to 2Mb and is now down to 1.7Mb  :(

I've now reported this to support.  I held off doing it before as I thought it might be temporary.

Current connection details:

Your DSL connection rate: 2269 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  1071 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 1750 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1591 kbps

Previous connection details:

Your DSL connection rate: 4195 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  888 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 3500 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 3250 kbps

Bizarrely my up-stream has gone up.  What's that all about?  ???

As far as I can see from my own experience and also that of other people here, BT WBC is not fit for purpose  >:(

Rik

It could be that the lower downstream speed has allowed the u/s to use more frequencies, the exact opposite to what most of us want.  :dunno:

I'm temporarily withdrawing my statement of "BT WBC is not fit for purpose" as support kindly got BT to reset my profile and it now is like this:

    Your DSL connection rate: 5987 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  888 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 5000 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 4603 kbps

This is better than it's ever been, but I'll reserve judgement for a couple of weeks.

Thanks for all the  :fingers:

Unfortunately, after several days of good download speed (5Mb) it has reverted to less than 2Mb overnight for no reason whatsoever.  >:(

Therefore BT WBC is not fit for purpose.  Either there is a fault in the BT exchange or I need to go back to ADSL Max to get a higher download speed.

Thanks

Chris

Rik

It's done it for a reason, Chris, the trick is to find out what it is.

have to say I'm less than a fan of wbc, as has been much publicised on here. Seems even if it does work BT engineers arent up to the task of fixing it, that's BT's training issue. but IDnet do need to warn existing and potential customers of the problems, and that here is little or no recourse to return to max
If you truly believe you need to pick a mobile phone that 'says something' about your personality, don't bother. You don't have a personality. A mental illness, maybe - but not a personality

Rik

I'm not a great fan as my line is a lot less stable than it was on Max. That said, speeds and pings have been fine for me, the re-syncs tend to be upwards more than downwards.

Mine is up and down too.  This morning I'm getting the full speed for the synch.  Last night about half what I'd expect and the day before almost nothing at all.  Wonder what tomorrow will bring.  I seriously wish I hadn't done it.  At least the exchange congestion on Max was consistent.

axisofevil

I've had a simliarish problem at Plusnet on WBC

BT profile 6Mbps (later 5.5Mbps)
Sync rate 7.3 Mbps (later 7Mbps)
Actual data rate slumped on the early hours of the 31st July.

Just a thought. What about if the line was re-numbered? Would that give the ability to revert to Max because effectively you would have a new connection?

I know it would be a bit of a pain having to tell all your contacts, but it could be a solution.....I think.
I am sure someone else will know the answer. :)

Simon

It's still the same line though.  :dunno:
