IPv6 on IDNet

Hi

Have just read this on ISP Review http://www.ispreview.co.uk/story/2009/07/23/entanet-uk-broadband-isps-that-fail-to-adopt-ipv6-could-be-negligent.html

I am just wondering reading this on ISP Review do IDNet still have an issue with IPv6 as I think I remember reading some where on this forum that they had some issues with it???

How will we know if and when IDNet will will accept IPv6 and will it make any difference to the ordinary webber like myself who does not pretend to understand all the technicalities.

Perhaps some one could enlighten us, look forward to any comments.

It was withdrawn due to problems it caused, I haven't heard anything since, but will try and find out some more. In practical terms, for the moment it will have no effect on users. In the longer term, a lack of IPv6 would deny access to parts of the web.

The network is IPv6 ready again, but testing is still being carried out before it goes live. I'll try and get more information next week when Simon returns from holiday.

Due to the way the nameservers are handling IPv6, an additional pair will need to be put in place before it goes live.

I read some time ago that BT do not support IPv6 on 21CN

"The new network touted '21CN' that allows consumers to get faster broadband using ADSL2+ does not support the IPv6 protocol .... "

They did a policy U-turn earlier this year and are now "working towards proper IPv6 support" and "21CN will be IPv6 ready when demand arises".

You'd have thought one of the main reasons for developing 21CN was to future-proof their services. They couldn't even managed that. It seemed they concentrated more on releasing a flawed product.

I get a /64 block of IPv6 addresses on my connection, but see this other thread about current routing issues with IDNet's IPv6 address space.
