I have for a few years now used a program called ALZip for my zipped files and found it very good, quick and easy to use.Checked for an update yesterday and got the latest version but when I installed it turns out that they have changed the license policy and you now need to buy it  :( :(

Its a real shame as it was one of those rare finds of a good free prog. I dont mind paying for software that I will use a lot but not this. will have to stay on the older free version until a new one is available maybe  :dunno:

I bought WinZip when Nico Mak first launched it, Baz, and enjoyed free updates until Corel took it over. It's always the way. :(

There is a good free one: 7-Zip :)

Another vote for 7-Zip. I have it on all my computers and it is free. Handles just about every form of compression as well.

(7z · ACE · ARC · Cabinet · cpt · DGCA · .dmg · GCA · kgb · LHA · LZX · RAR · qda · sit · SQX · zoo · ZIP)

Plus many more.

I use Izarc myself, it's missing from the list I posted earlier www.izarc.org/

Yet Another 7-Zip user here. It's not the most belled and whistled but I've found it reliable, efficient and non-annoying.

I like Winrar myself.  Very easy to use.

7-Zip has been free for years, with no signs of changing, and will handle just about everything you throw at it (short of a Rhino with a hangover). Gets my vote :)

I think Rik was probably referring to the Rhino.  ;)

Well - I tested it with a tea total rhino and it nearly choked on that. I'm guessing a hungover one would break it.  :dunno:
