sudden internet access problem -- anyone else having trouble?

This afternoon I am not able to get an connectivity to the internet other than by using my mobile phone as a modem.
My regular access has inexplicably locked up. I've checked the phone line and connections, all look good and feel solid.

Things were working fine 2 hours ago before lunch, and now there is no access to email or the web via browsers. My telephone line is fine, able to make and receive calls.

Is anyone else having problems?

Thanks,

A mystified Linlin

Fine here, LinLin. If your router's lights are green, try powering it down, wait five minutes then re-start it. If that doesn't work, talk to support, who will be able to see what's happening from their end.

The connection is absolutely fine now.
I did nothing with the router, just left the computer (did not re-boot) for an hour, and now it's fine.

Still mystified but now connected,

I'm not terribly techo-savvy...how does one access the router log?

OK, in your browser address bar, type http://192.168.0.1 and hit <enter>. Then go to the log on the menu at the left. Look for CHAP authentication errors.

Can't get past authentication. I remember when setting it up the username was something simplee like "administrator" but I cannot remember exactly what, or what the password was.

Ann

for netgears the username is admin and the password is password.

I thought you had moved onto pastures new ISP wise, so unless it was an Internet-wide problem, it wouldn't have affected you anyway.   :conf:

David

You are right but BT have reported a few exchanges out of order Milton Keynes was one yesterday

Yes,its scheduled to be finally resolved in the morning but the speeds are up to a healthy level now and the snails pace should be history tomorrow,  :thumb:

So what is going to be done tomorrow? Are BT building you a new exchange next door?  ;D

David

That looks the case I have not found out what the exact fault is but will be told tomorrow, this isp has a good little tool which allows me to log in and see every action and progress being made its good. :thumb:I think the work is to be done at the exchange so your guess is as good as mine.... ;D

Good luck for tomorrow. Hope it all works out for you.  :fingers:

:thnks: Seems like a lifetime but I am optimistic now I know what is going on rather than not knowing that nothing is going on  ;D
