Bit disconcerting especially as 192.168.0.2 is me.
Nice to know the router is blocking dos attack but where the devil is this coming from and should I panic now or later?

Rik

Have you done a virus sweep, Rick. I suspect it's just an anomaly in the way it reports things.

NOD32 and malwarebytes .... both squeaky clean.
Am tempted to return to my 2700 but I kicked it round the room a few times after I dropped it a few months ago. :bawl:
jftr, I'm not overly keen on the netgear which throws up some bizarre log info. at times which I don't pretend to understand

Rik

If you can get it to work, it would be worth trying the 2700, it has a stronger firewall than the Netgear, imo.

Oddly enough I've been getting some bizarre stuff in the logs from my router - not a Netgear - following an update to the firmware.  I reverted to the previous version and, so far, I've not seen any more of the bizarre log entries.

YMMV

[Edit]   I should add that I still have absolutely no idea of what was causing the oddities other than that the change of firmware seems to have cured it.  So far.....

Rik

I don't upgrade firmware unless there's a compelling reason to do so, Tac. If it ain't broke and all that. :)

I'm coming to the conclusion you are correct Rik.  I got into the habit of playing with firmware when I had a Draytek.  You could happily play for hours trying different firmwares - not always UK versions - and tweaking them to get a higher sync.

For quite a long time I was syncing in the 2700/2800 range with re-syncs perhaps once a day.  Then the line started detiorating and it's been downhill ever since.  I must be getting severe noise bursts, as they push the re-boot from some 22/2300 which is the very best this router achieves and that not very often, down to the 17/1800 range.

Isn't Broadband wonderful  :)

Rik

Rather like cleaning gutters, Tac. ;)

I'd rather clean gutters Rik. At least when you've done them they're squeaky clean and will give no trouble for months unlike routers which seem to have a mind of their own at times.
jftr my router dropped server connection twice today (a rarity), so re-booted it and uttered dire threats at it and it seems to be fine at the mo.  Did not update the firmwaretho. having noted previous comments.

Rik

You need some witches to stand round it chanting, Rick. ;D

Couldn't agree more!

Mine's having another fit of the vapours.  Two reboots and at least one re-sync, but at the moment I really can't be bothered with another dialogue with the incomprehensible robots in Bangalore.  If it gets any worse I suppose I shall have to.  Not sure getting my MAC and moving elsewhere will do anything to improve the quality of the line, although it might make the conversations with support more entertaining  :)

I blame the weather. :)
