I can't wait for it, Steve. I think it's going to give a real performance boost. Some possible shots of the packaging, if you're interested:

Thanks Sebby, I see that's there's no pre-order for the UK unlike at Amazon.com

Nope, but I plan to pay the Apple Store a visit on the day it comes out anyway. I think the reason it can't be pre-ordered yet is because Apple haven't confirmed the UK upgrade price, but I imagine it'll be around £20.

Steve

If I went to the store I would have to take the exact money in cash and no cards

Why are they upgrading? According to Mac users the Mac is perfect  >:D   Is a Apple lap top called a Pac-a-Mac ?  ;D

Why are people upgrading from XP to Windows 7, XP is meant to be perfect? £20 for an update on a great platform, I'm sure most would for that price, and the little issues Macs have over Windows boxes make it a good upgrade I would imagine. Its definitely my next machine when my Laptop gets past it, I'm sick of Windows, and MS patching known flaws a year after becoming aware of them.
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Rik

I thought this was a thread about a new BBC nature programme. ;)

Have a look for yourself. ;)

Unlike Microsoft, Apple realise that they have a great OS and have just tweaked this one.

Glenn

As far as I know the £20 - £300 upgrade only applies from Leopard > Snow Leopard, the price increases if going from an older version.

Rik

Did you notice that Adobe are abandoning the non-Intel machines for Creative Suite?

Yup. I can see why they're doing it, but no doubt it'll disappoint/annoy some.

Rik

I'm pleased, personally. The Windows world has made the mistake of clinging on to backwards compatibility for far too long.

That's a good way of looking at it actually.

Would you expect anything less?  ;D

Steve

The older PPC macs can't run Snow Leopard as they are unable to run a 64 bit OS

Correct. Tbh, I don't think it's unreasonable for them not to be supporting PPC anymore. I mean, Intel Macs have been around since 2006 now.

Glenn

On another forum I read, the relase date is Friday, £25 for single user £39 for 5 user

Microsoft could learn a thing or two, couldn't they.
