Thats as I understand it, looks largely an academic exercise for the home user . I use XP occassionally on the mac and the virtual device software all I think need a 32 bit kernel. I was hoping you might have told us how the install went, always best to learn from someone else's pitfalls ;D

I haven't installed it yet - I'll be doing so later today. Although I've got a TM backup, I wanted to create a clone as well. Unfortunately, I don't have another external hard drive, so I'm copying the 125GB clone over the network onto a PC. Only 3 hours to go...

I'm back :thumb:

All went to plan, I didn't do a clean install just updated from Leopard it took around 45mins.

Everything seems faster and I've gained 7GB of hard disc space.

This was on a Unibody Macbook 2.4Ghz 4.0GB RAM, I've got a iMac and a older MacBook to try later.

My copy has just turned up in the post, I'm about to install it on my MacBook.

I'll report back later how I got on. :fingers:

Lucky you - mine didn't turn up today. Still, I'm glad I anticipated that and bought a copy yesterday! ;D

Amazingly, you can buy a family license of SL for £39, allowing it to be installed on 5 Macs. :)

Steve

That's what I am waiting to arrive :bore:

Now up and running on Snow Leopard. I decided to do a clean install, even though all Mac users say it's not necessary - I guess it's a process I've learnt from Windows and can't move away from now! I've now got Time Machine restoring my files.

It seems a lot faster than Leopard, and I love being able to navigate within stacks now. I haven't really had much of a play yet, but more when I have. :)

Have now updated my iMac, just as successful as the MacBook earlier.

Seemed to be a long restart at first taking some time for the top menu items to appear but once loaded all OK. I've much more information stored on this Mac so Spotlight and Time Machine are currently updating.

Just my daughters Macbook to do, I might leave this because she only uses it with Bootcamp operating in Vista :shake:

I think I too will find it difficult not to perform a clean install especially with mobile me allowing me to sync my preferences and account etc from the other machine once SL is up and running.

Just checked the shipment status and its being sent from the Netherlands with an expected delivery date of the 3rd of September.I know my sorting office is on strike the nights of the 2nd and 3rd so it could be some time before it finally arrives. Also the expected support for MS Exchange Server and Apple Mail.app is not all encompassing and currently it would appear that my only access to my works mail server is still via Entourage Web Access, which is a shame as I was hoping delete this application with the install of SL
