Possible Problem with BT starting new open order on my line

BT in their wisdom started a new order on my phoneline last week (for no reason) with a new number to be activated on Monday.  I have rang them today (again) to tell them to cancel this order and to keep the phone number we were previously using (we currently cannot make incoming or outgoing calls).  A helpful friendly Indian lady told me the previous number will be restored on Monday.  This though is BT.  They have already in the previous 2 months (after I moved house) opened a new account and transferred my service after I called them to tell me to cancel my old account and to cancel a house move order.  They cancelled the account but hilariously opened a new account for me (without my permission) and transferred the order I asked to be cancelled to this new account!  Anyway, I digress.

My query is if BT ignore my request again and start a brand new number on Monday for me, will I lose my idnet broadband service and have to pay for a new broadband connection all over again?

I guess the broadband side of things depends on whether they deactivate your old line, in which case, I would imagine the broadband would also be killed off.  I have a feeling you may need to speak to IDNet about this on Monday (early!), but it does seem strange, even for BT, for them to instigate a new line for no reason.  Have you had no problems up to this point?

I'm not sure to be honest, but I would think that yes, the broadband will be ceased. I think you need to try and complain to someone before it's too late.

A change of number alone should not cease ADSL. A change in the account name would. It's probably too late to involve IDNet, but I'd drop them an email and explain the problem, they may be able to check what's scheduled for the BB connection.
