Draytek Vigor2700 Not working with ADSL2 ????????

I have been told that my brand new draytek vigor2700 is not compatible with my new adsl2 service. However I did have one full day where it did work. The Idnet support tells me that this is a known problem but todate there is no solution. Is any one else having this issue and if so does any one have a working solution?

Forgot to mention. the one full day it did work was from after I change the firm ware update to what I would imagine was a down grade rather than a upgrade.

Welcome to the forum.

It's a known problem with some Huawei MSANs. The problem is one of timing and, while IDNet have been successful, working with Draytek, at finding a workaround for some models, the 2700, so far, has not been resolved. Sorry.

I see. is it still being looked into or should I begin to try and send the router back under the latent defect act?

The problem is that there's nothing wrong with the router as such, it's an incompatibility with the MSAN. Trying to decide whether it's BT or Draytek to blame would be very difficult. The best thing to do would be to let support know, if you haven't already, and contact Draytek to see if they have a solution.

however our engineers are looking into the problem at the
moment and there is currently no resolution for this issue.

It's not specific to IDNet, afaik, but to BT's WBC service. However, it might be worth your while posting on ThinkBroadband in the DSL Hardware section as you will get responses there from WBC-connected users who are with other ISPs. We will only be able to tell you our experiences with IDNet, and what we've been told by IDNet, so can't make any comparisons.

I am currently make in the post from the router I have problems with. It's odd how it does work sometimes and other times it simply wont make the connection.

I will monitor it tonight and let you know. Is there any information I can obtain with my current connectivity which may help? Statistics ect.....

It might be of interest if you could get the router stats (attenuation, SNR, etc), then someone could look over them for you, but I'm no expert, so it won't be me.

The router stats will give us information about the connection, but it won't help diagnose this timing problem, I'm afraid.

I would assume there should be a decimal point before those zeros

For your attenuation and noise margin that looks about right to me, pretty good in fact but I'm not an expert. It would be interesting to see what sync speed and actual throughput you are getting from a BT speed test.

Your noise margin may be set to 9db to stabilise the line, check that immediately after re-booting the router next.

Will do. Still seems to be working however I havnt rebooted the router yet. will give that a try later today along with a speed test and share my results.
