I'm very excited about the next call of duty coming out in October. Those of you into the game might know that getting a copy of CoD4 was not easy for less than £35 due to it's massive popularity so this pre-order deal looks great. According to my CoD4 Dutch clanmate the company is the Dutch equivalent of www.play.com over here in the UK.

Still pleanty of time before the release some I'm holding out a bit longer. Just thought I'd mention it for anyone as into it as me  ;)

Also looking forward to this one very much too.  I have it on pre-order from Amazon.

Do you still play CoD4 Zimmerframe? I play a lot in the evenings on our clans ProMod server.

Thanks. I've got Call of Duty World at War on my PS3, but I never play it. Not sure why... :dunno:

I pre-ordered mine from Play.com some time ago at £29.99 - that price from coolshop is the lowest I have seen.  I also play alot of COD4, although I quite like WAW for a change now and again.

We have three COD4 servers, including a custom map server running the AWE4 mod (all our servers have helicopters disabled or ineffective :thumb:), along with 1 WAW server (infantry only, no UAV and no dogs :thumb:).

Coool thanks :)

im also in need of good cod4 servers to check out

they are either too large or too empty

does MW 2 still have the P90 as if not i will be upset

I fancy this too, but I'm not too keen on spending even £24 for something that has a short life span.

I think I'm starting to appreciate RTS more these days. Still, I know I'll have an impulse buy at some point, like always.

I don't enjoy single player games so I'm buying it purely for the online multiplayer. I'm a bit worried they have made this one too 'arcadey' in order to make console play more enjoyable. If the game is anywhere near as good as CoD4 though IMO it's well worth £24. It's an outstandingly well built game.

Whether they know it or not, MW2 is holding the torch for competitive FPS over the next year or so, so I hope they don't remove all the skill from the play.

I'm the opposite to you Niall. I'v always been an RTS gamer playing everything from all the C&C's to Supreme Commander and warcraft 3 DotA aside from a short MMORPG stint. Recently I got into clan FPS games with a bunch of guys I met on a server and it's just a good laugh every evening.

Hoping Mortal Online delivers the goods later this year as the next decent MMORPG for me.

Yeah, I did the FPS thing to death. I was in one of the biggest CS clans around, back in the old days when CS was new, and ran a lot of servers too, over the years. Now I just play RTS, occasionally reinstalling an FPS. As soon as CS went CS:S I lost interest. When you dramatically change the physics of a game, it spoils it, no matter how nice it may look.

I've always liked the COD and MOH games since they first came out years ago, so I may still give it a bash, unless it's clear that they've once again geared it towards multiplayer with achievements and unlocks, which totally ruins it. A good single player game is what I enjoy these days if it's FPS.

I have heard that its release has been put back a couple of weeks.  Now due near the end of November?  No doubt to fully maximise the Christmas effect ;)

Anyway, it is looking so good, I cant wait...

I heard that too, but at the moment it's only a rumour so I don't really believe it yet especially as it is rumoured to only be the PC version that is delayed for bug fixes. Not likely...all they do is emulate the console version and CoD4 did most of that work for them.

well if your buying the game on the PC platform for the mutiplayer, you better read the other MW2 thread.

My copy of MW2 has at last arrived from Coolshop, I notice that the packaging is clearly labelled " NOT for sale in the U.K. ", Coolshop are based in Amsterdam, but despatch UK sales from Croyden.

I thought it was illegal under E.U. law to restrict the movements of goods within the E.U.

I assume the wholesale price is lower elsewhere in Europe than in the U.K. and hence the embargo.

Would it be to do with VAT, Alan?

The VAT on the Invoice is 15% and as far as I can see the actual disks are identical to those for sale in the U.K., my neighbour's copy, bought  from GAME has exactly the same file structure and both use English as the default language.

The only difference is he paid £34.99 and I paid £24.99  :thumb:

Mine also came from Coolshop which also states the same on the back and I also only paid £24.99 with free courier delivery.

Has anyone who bought MW2 from Coolshop had a game update ?

My neighbour's copy required a 1Gb update before it would run after the install, my copy just started up.

It sounds like the discs actually contain different builds in that case.
