Thank you Sebby

I have other questions

-can we consider DGN2000 = DG834G v4 with wireless N?

or does DG834G v4 has any advantage over DGN2000?

-what about 834N what are the differences between 834N v1 and 834N v2?

- did any one here tried 834N ? why this router has many negative reviews?

- any different between broadcom's chipset in Thomson 585 v7 and broadcom's chipset in netgear dgn2000?

Sebby

I'm not sure about the chipsets. I'll see if I can dig anything out.

I am not sure anyones'  seen a DG834v2 the version 1 is a very reliable router with the latest firmware my only critism is the instability of the wireless side of things if a neighbour's router is on the same channel and manual channel selection to a non conflicting channel will solve the problem. It is only single band 2.5GHz whilst some of the new routers have both 2.5GHz and 5 GHz .

I'm not sure if the Netgear DG834Nv2 was ever released, certainly not in the UK. The main difference between v1 and v2 is the change from a Broadcom to a Conexant chipset, probably to reduce costs.

I've used for the DG834Nv1 for two years now without any issues, but it's been replaced by the DGND3300. The DGND3300 is available to buy now in the USA, but Netgear are delaying the release until October for the UK whilst they sort out the firmware for the USB port.

There is not many DG834N v2's if any. They were going to release one but it never happened in most countries, I saw a few people saying they had one on the whirlpool forum, but no one seemed to have the push to connect button on the front, so they may have been just confused, there is no support page for them either from what I have seen, its still for the DG834N v1, all they have done recently upgraded the firmware on the v1 instead which makes it a much more robust router.
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Only a one year warranty on that, and its one of those horrid blue dome ones, its big as well looks vile standing up as did the DG834PN and I imagine it will still get really hot laying down. The delay has not filled me with confidence either.
