word 2007

have noticed this problem using word on the wifes laptop. when printing something it has not printed the bottom of the page.Say if its a table, whatever size 4 x 4 for example, when printing the bottom half of the last row would not get printed.Documents are the same, missing a few lines.doing the same on my main system prints ok.

All I could see was when using the 'Quick Print' option instead of going to Print seems to cause this.

any one else come across this

I've not noticed myself, are the print drivers up to date?

I don't tend to use Word, Baz, but my first thought would be to check the printer driver and Word are agreed on page size, and that the page margins in Word are within the printable area for the printer.

I think so Glenn shes on Vista, just guessing about the drivers.everything else prints ok its just this and if you go via print then the printer preferences it works ok, just seems to be this quick print route

I did change the page size from Letter to A4 but wouldnt have thought that would make a difference as other stuff is ok, the page margins.....would that matter if the page getting printed is only on the top half of printable area

Do you have more that one printer, Baz? Letter is 8.5x11.5, so slightly wider and slightly shorter, so could well end up forcing unexpected page breaks.

Ah  that sounds familiar Rik.every so often it has kicked out a blank page when printing. I only have one printer now so cant try another. Will keep an eye on it since I changed the size. It was a default template in the printer options, a printing shortcut its called, with saved settings.you cant change them but can modify and save as a new setting.

maybe Rik, dont really know.I'm not that familiar with this new Word  but my wife uses it for her school work so I should really know more about it just find out these things when stuff goes wrong, you know how it is 

I can just do what I need,print it and shut down word.....works for me

I've never liked Word, Baz, it makes it too hard to do things I want to. I'm a WordPerfect fan to this day.

I've only ever used the DOS version I think but fond memories of a decent word processor and it was so quick.

Those were fun days, Steve, remembering all the key combinations and trying to visualise the finished effect by the limited use of colours on the screen.

Word for Windows v2 killed it for me I think and it was so so slow.(Not much quicker now  )

The vast majority of people don't need most of the functionality of Word and could make do with a basic word processor, but they get pulled by, the the latest and greatest, so must be better marketing.

Thats when my use of WP stopped as everyone else was using this marvellous new windows processor,I recall it was easier to be slower but compatible

I never needed compatibility, Steve, as my output went through PageMaker first.

wow!!!!!!!!  wordperfect. used that years ago for a long time, people used to laugh and try to convert me to word but I wouldnt    I liked it too.  had to cave in eventually as it was becoming increasingly harder to keep up with everything else using word. schools etc just didnt want to know any thing but MS

No, that was the big problem, Baz, once Word was the de facto standard, most had to comply. I still write in WP, though, and pass it through Word if I absolutely have to.

Ahem - even in this day an age why do people still use Word (and esp Word 2007, which MS are not even allowed to sell in the US anymore). OpenOffice - 1/3rd the size, can read all word 2007 docs, and free

can you still get WP then Rik.Think I got up to V10 the last time I used it.also my wife found it a lot easier to do thing for school in WP than word now. little things like clipart and graphics were easier, she could choose a clpart picture, 'break down' each part of it and edit how she wanted, changing colours etc. cant seem to do it in word as easy    unless we just not doing it right but yes it does seem to have been made more complex.

How long since you tried? OO3 is remarkably similar to MSO 2000 in the interface, and so shouldn't be too difficult to pick up.

So, could a current MS Office user switch to WordPerfect fairly easily?  It says it will open Excel and Word files, which is the main criteria.  I may download the trial, just for a play.

I think the GUI in office 2007 is a nice user friendly fresh look and if OO3 has the same feel as office 2000 I think that would be a massive step back.

Yes, but expect some degree of learning curve in return for which you will gain greater flexibility.
