How long since you tried? OO3 is remarkably similar to MSO 2000 in the interface, and so shouldn't be too difficult to pick up.

yeah quite a while I think, maybe 1/2 years. might have another look at it

So, could a current MS Office user switch to WordPerfect fairly easily?  It says it will open Excel and Word files, which is the main criteria.  I may download the trial, just for a play.  :)

I think the GUI in office 2007 is a nice user friendly fresh look and if OO3 has the same feel as office 2000 I think that would be a massive step back.

Yes, but expect some degree of learning curve in return for which you will gain greater flexibility.
