Hello there?

I am on the Home SuperMax package and have been since joining Idnet a few months ago. I am just wondering if it is worth being on this package as I do not really get close to the bandwidth allowance and the upload speed I get (which is why I went for this package in the first place) is around 600k.

If I dropped the package to Home Max I would be getting an upload speed of around 400k (I think). So is it really worth spending an extra £10 for a 200k upload speed improvement and better contention ratio?

Also if I were to downgrade, will my line be retrained?

Would appreciate your thoughts and thanks in advance...

Hi Scorpio,

I can answer one of your questions... Your line will not be re-trained. All training does is establish a maximum error rate of some sort. The actual sync and profile for your line adjust on a constant basis.

I wouldn't have thought that the actual prioritisation of your packets over our 'normal' packets has a massive effect and as such, you may not notice much difference in latency.

Whether or not the 200k extra upload speed is worth paying the extra £10 for is entirely up to you. It depends on what you do with it. For example, if you upload a lot of big files you will notice the difference , however, if you don't upload that much you might decide its not worth it.

Well judging from my upload stats from last month, I think downgrading is the right thing to do!!
