Do the usual speedtests work with Macs?

The simple answer is yes,although the Bt speedtest is as difficult to access as always.

With Macs, yes, it depends more on the browser.

All the normal speedtest sites (that I've tried, anyway) work fine with all the the browsers I use.

I normally use Opera, but if I want to run the BT speedtest I have to fire  up Safari.

I tried with Safari on the Mac (10.6.1)last night and failed several times . However it may just be coincidence and just managed to hit it at a quiet moment but when I enabled the develop menu from preferences in Safari and asked it to mimic IE8 on Windows it worked

It depends what you mean by "worked"... with Opera all you get is a blank tab

Mind you, the phrases "BT speed tester" and "it worked" don't sit well in the same post at the best of times

You must admit that there can't be many online testers (that the owner insists you use to report faults) that are so woefully short of capacity

I do, I do. BT clearly don't want people to be able to easily access the tester as it would provide more ammunition to those complaining of poor speeds.

What really gets up my nose is when the test itself runs successfully but bombs at the result reporting stage... then when you try to run it again it tells you that there is a 3-hour minimum period between successful tests

I'd love to know which dictionary they get their definition of "successful" from
