Well its easy but how accurate  ? :dunno:

You judge
Many hammer all over the wall and believe that with each blow they hit the nail on the head.

Seems about right on the whole; my interleaved connection (yes, I'm one of the few who actually need it on!) normally shows a ping around that level.  It's nice and pretty, too!  :D

Steve

I end up with 100% packet loss  ;D

What ever I do it gives 100% packet loss, the firewall is off, the router is set to respond.I suppose it could be something to do with using Safari on a Mac

I prefer command line anyway, more information and I can make it do what I want it to!

This using FF on Vista however I still get 100% packet loss unless I disable SIP ALG on the DG834N , still no go with Safari/Mac with this option disabled

So is mine... but this more typical of my ping results:

PING bbc.co.uk (212.58.224.138): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 212.58.224.138: icmp_seq=0 ttl=122 time=18.216 ms
64 bytes from 212.58.224.138: icmp_seq=1 ttl=122 time=19.112 ms
64 bytes from 212.58.224.138: icmp_seq=2 ttl=122 time=19.343 ms
64 bytes from 212.58.224.138: icmp_seq=3 ttl=122 time=18.617 ms
64 bytes from 212.58.224.138: icmp_seq=4 ttl=122 time=18.552 ms
64 bytes from 212.58.224.138: icmp_seq=5 ttl=122 time=18.476 ms
64 bytes from 212.58.224.138: icmp_seq=6 ttl=122 time=19.439 ms
64 bytes from 212.58.224.138: icmp_seq=7 ttl=122 time=18.660 ms
64 bytes from 212.58.224.138: icmp_seq=8 ttl=122 time=18.564 ms
64 bytes from 212.58.224.138: icmp_seq=9 ttl=122 time=18.252 ms

--- bbc.co.uk ping statistics ---
10 packets transmitted, 10 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 18.216/18.723/19.439/0.407 ms

I don't think I'll be adding that tester to my bookmark list  :P

I'd always trust a manual test over a site anyday, Bill, I wonder how successful this site will be.

Whether its particular to my setup I have on Snow leopard to disable SIP ALG on the router and use Opera to get a result without packet loss.

Anyone worked out what MOS means?

Glenn

What is MOS and how do you calculate it?

The Mean Opinion Score (MOS) is an indication of the quality of a voice conversation. The MOS ranges from 1 to 5 with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best. The MOS is usually a subjective test where listeners rate sound quality. Pingtest.net uses an algorithm based on the three test components to estimate the MOS that would be typically obtained by a connection with these results.
