My problem started when i never paid my phone bill on time, i was getting good speeds before when i was d/l from p2p, ranging between 500-600 kbps, i then got re-connected with both bt and idnet, since day 1, my speeds have dropped by half, it refuses to go any faster than 235kbps, i also had a problem with my landline not working while broadband was on, i have literally had a bt enjineer out no less than 30 mins ago, and he has fixed the landline, he said some lead in back of pc was the fault, and bt might charge me for a call out, in the region of £120, i then thought that was the reason for my slow speeds, i have tried the modem into the main phone socket as well and still the same, i am paying more than i was with bt when i was on 2mb broadband with them only that was a lot cheaper, i am getting connected at 7.6 mb, which makes me think my speeds are being throttled, although idnet say they dont do that, why has my speeds dropped drastically ever since i got re-connected to idnet and nothing has been changed on my end, i am really fed up with this let alone the £120 fee all for nothing...any ideas :bawl:

To me, it sounds like you may have a stuck profile, as 235kbs is around a 2mb download speed.

Yeah Glenn, what do i do about sorting that out, because like i say it always hangs on the same speed 235 kbps

Glenn

Have you spoken to support about it? There won't be anything that we can do.

It's also possible that you've got a new, and worse, pair, unfortunately. Do you have router stats from before and after?

A non technical question, why do you say it all started when you didn't pay your phone on time ? ( not sensible, surely ?)  How can late payment of your phone bill affect your connection speeds?

When you don't pay, BT let the gremlins loose on your line.  ;D

Quandam, thats when the problem started for me, everything was great before i got disconnected from bt, then when i got re-connected with idnet my speeds were bad, but it must have just been a stuck profile like Glenn said
