It was, maybe releasing it early causes less strain on the Apple servers.

It's on the way , I wonder if the wireless hot spot feature will be supported by o2 on the iPhone without the the tethering data bundle option.

I wondered just that also Steve, I very much doubt it.

Just downloading the iPad version, want to see if it speeds up Safari.

I've done the iPad updated ok but crashed iTunes when it tried to resync. Perhaps that's why they released the iTunes 10.2.1 update which I forgot to install first.

I think I'll leave it until tomorrow when the US has gone to bed.

That crash of iTunes messed up my iPad, I've had to factory reset and restore from back up (thank god for time machine).  After the update when I tried to sync it it would get to the photos and keep throwing up an error and cancelling the sync.

Thankfully it all seems back to normal now.

Safari 5.0.4 is out.

It is, I think I'll get up early and do my iPhone on off peak rate. Looking at some Mac forums it's looks like O2 have disabled the wireless hot spot feature, which is a pity.

I managed the iphone , I can confirm O2 have disabled the wifi feature unless the tethering bolt on is used £7.50 for 500kb per month.

I expect vodafone will follow suit. I'll find out when I update my iPhone 4.

Unless O2 have been caught unawares with the early release of 4.3 as now the hot spot link to O2 is not now available.

One disadvantage of jailbreaking is that I can't upgrade mine, or I'll lose the jailbreak, and it's a lot more tricky to jailbreak anything above 4.1.  I'm happy to leave it as it is, but out of curiosity, what am I missing?

Not a lot for the 3GS,maybe the safari update as it said to be a bit quicker with the new engine. I think what I've noticed since I'm now back on under apple's control is that the phone for me is much more stable (I kept losing wifi - which required a reboot to restore) however I've lost the flexibility and the wifi hotspot features I had with the jailbreak.

Also a bunch of security updates which seem mainly to do with Webkit, its running ok on my iphone 4. MMS handling on O2 is now much better as well, before hand it would have issues sending, now it's fine, a known O2 bug on the 4 at least.

Edit: Just checked, I have set up personal Hotspot on my iPhone 4, but its an unlocked model bought from apple, so maybe that's why...

My 3GS, with the jailbroken 4.1 is rock solid, and runs with no issues at all. If it ain't broke...

I've always had intermittent wifi since I jailbroke it and it's jailbreak related as it's rock solid otherwise. I did try 4.2.1 jailbreak but that was even worse for wifi performance.

When I use wifi, it's when at home.  I've never used it while out.
