Some would argue OS X Lion server was borked on conception. Certainly you don't need OS X Lion if you've no interest in integration with IOS devices ie photostream and other iCloud features. Full screen apps are pleasing but not essential.
I would not entirely agree, Steve. Snow leopard hardly did anything for security over Leopard, in fact it was criticised for that very reason by not implementing full ASLR, Lion has full ASLR has been augmented, so that even if hackers clear that hurdle, they'll still have to bypass other new protections, among them is a sandbox design that shields the most vulnerable and vital parts of the computer from attack. Safari, for example, has now been divided into two processes that separate the browser's user interface and other functions from the part that parses JavaScript, images, and other web content.

As time moves on malware moves on also even for OS X. Its a bit like people sticking to XP, that OS is truly old now and cannot hold its own against modern malware, even with a good security suite. The improvements in Lion do help a lot, much work was done on Lions security and that alone is I believe reason these days, and as for full screen apps, iPhoto for one is much better now, Mail is certainly improved as is Calendar in full screen.
I think some people try to convince themselves change is bad because familiarity brings comfort, that's fine if its your favourite chair, but not a computer operating system.
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Steve

Yes I did omit the security changes.

I have had no issues with 10.6 but using it on Windows is a different I guess.  :dunno:

Because with each new update comes new bugs.

Just for the record, my iTunes is now working again, after reinstalling F-Secure Internet Security.  It seems that several security apps have had issues with the latest version of iTunes.   I found a list on the Apple forums, but F-Secure wasn't actually one of them.  Of course, it's not Apple's fault.  Their solution is for users to wait until all the other affected software has been updated to be compatible with theirs.  And Apple wonder why they are accused of arrogance.  ::)

That is my problem with them and to some extent a section of their users.

While we have Mac versions of some of the software I support it is not uniform at the moment and when you deliver yhe bad news they'll have to use Bootcampm Parallels or the like to run Windows you'd think I'd insulted them personally and they often launch into a tirade about how we are discriminating against them etc.

I just let them get it off their chest and explain I'm not involved in deciding support policy and my role exists to help where possible.

It's a bit like a fuel company offering a new type of fuel, but when you find your car won't run on it, they won't let you go back to the old fuel, but tell you you've got to buy a new car.

Whilst I though reinstalling F-Secure had fixed my iTunes, unfortunately, it was only a temporary respite, and the problems started up again last night.  Hopefully this new version will address them.
