My new expensive Billion 7402NX which I purchased from Broadbandbuyer a couple of weeks ago, failed last night at midnight. I first thought it must be BT working on the exchange because of the timing, but in the morning still not internet access at all, despite a couple of reboots. No matter what I did I could not get it to connect at all and when I eventually got into the routers menu I found it had changed my password back to default and lost all my port forwarding for my WHS and Steam account, but it retained all Idnet's log on data. It has kept loosing wireless connection every couple of days for my wife's laptop which I kept blaming the fault on ACER and I had to keep restoring factory defaults on the router (as the only option), to get it up and running again, but now it has failed on my hardwired connection and I am no longer prepared to keep factory resetting it. So it is going back to Broadbandbuyer for a full refund on their 30day clause as a faulty item. I have since received my warranty replacement Netgear DG834Gv4 router (just in time) and all is well again.  I think I will stick to Netgear in future.

Netgear and Speedtouch are generally safe bets, Colin, plus there's more users around if you need help.

Sorry to hear this, Colin. I thought Billion were premium routers. I suppose it could be a one off.

I suppose it could just be a one off as I used to sell loads of them as my preferred make when I had my own PC shop, in fact a friend of mine is still using my old 8year old one, but it has certainly put me off them now. I just wanted a wireless 'N' one (for my wife's new Acer laptop) and with Gigabit ethernet ports to match my main PC, but there are not many around at the moment with both. I saw a Belkin N1, but that had loads of bad reviews.
