I had a strange problem this morning when I fired up my main PC I got a warning about there being no internet access, the LAN was working fine but I was unable to get into the router interface to check and view the logs, it kept timing out. A restart of the router seems to have cleared the problem but I don't know whether I had actually lost my net connection or whether the router is on the blink as restarting it loses all the log entries.  ???

I think I'll see if it happens again and if it does looks like it could be time to dig the Netgear out of mothballs.  :-\

Were all of the lights on as per normal?

They were, Lance, all  showing green.

That does suggest then that connection was maintained - odd.

Failure or confusion sound the most plausible explanations, Ray. :(

I'm afraid it does, Rik,

Odd, the same sort of thing has just happened to me.  Everything looked OK all connected, flashing lights where there should be, but nothing was happening.  Tried to log into the router - nothing, the browser simply timed out.

A few minutes later and all seems back to normal.  Never happened before.

Weird.

After my failure to boot yesterday, it suggests that we should all put new hardware on our Christmas lists. ;D

Very strange, you're not using a Speedtouch 585 by any chance, Tac?

I've already been looking at new routers, Rik, but I've swapped back to my DG834G V3 at the moment.  :fingers:

No it's a Zyxel.  Support have no record of a disconnect or knowledge of any work at the exchange.

Sebby

Strange; just one of those things. :dunno:
