Sony Ericsson Satio smartphone withdrawn

Mobile phone retailers Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U have temporarily withdrawn the Sony Ericsson Satio smartphone from their stores.

Both companies said the move followed complaints from customers about software problems.  Phones 4U announced its decision to stop selling the handset 24 hours after rival retailer Carphone Warehouse.  Sony Ericsson said it was "giving this matter its utmost priority and working toward solving it".

Looks like it's both.  Shame they don't test these things properly.  The C905 was the last 'flagship' SE phone, and that had problems with the earpiece packing up, and people could only hear the caller on speakerphone.  SE used to be the best, but not any more.

Last good SE I had was the P910i for touch screen, that was a great phone.

I've never thought SE to be as good as Nokia for build quality. Prior to my iPhone, I had always had nokias and never had any problems whereas my friends often had problems with their SE.

The P910i was a good build quality, so was the SE K750, that was a solid and well built handset, the K800 was also good, it was after that things went down hill, a real shame I had a S700 as well (swivel phone) that had a fantastic camera and great screen and was built very well, at the time the Nokia's were creaky and not so well made, then SE just made the disater with the P990 which had little ram and came out so far behind schedule it was out of date when they released it, this seemd to spark the end for SE and smartphones, since then its been awful, and the Nokia's got better, I must admit I'm happy with my iPhone, best build quality I have ever had, and best functionality for my needs. Its sad to see SE make so mnay mistakes now though.

Sony have made a lot of mistakes over the years, it makes you wonder if they are really focussed.

Perhaps that's part of the problem, Sony seem to forget the basic functions and concentrate on the bells & whistles. (and cameras...)

They class their phones as Cyber shots the thing is thats great but as you say the rest of the phone does not work, and they put it out to general release knowing it has that many bugs, incredible

Agreed, they have really gone downhill. There were some really great phones, such as the T610 and K750.

True. It's cheaper to let the consumer do the testing.
