Doorbells (amongst other things!)

1) I hope I don't sound really stupid here, but can anyone tell me whether a wireless doorbell could possibly affect a wired internet connection in any way??  I know it sounds naive, but I've read so many threads about things in the home which could affect a person's connection, so I just wanted to check!

2) Has anyone else experienced problems with Hotmail recently?  For the last few days, I have found Hotmail to be painfully slow and laborious.  Other websites seem fine....just Hotmail!  It takes forever to load an email from the point of clicking into it, to the point of the contents actually being visible.

Any help you are able to offer would be much appreciated.

Moonshine. :)

Simon

Sorry, Moon, haven't got a wireless doorbell, or Hotmail.   I can't say I've heard of a doorbell affecting broadband, but I guess it might be possible.  :dunno:

If the doorbell uses the same frequency as the wireless router, it could interfere, I would think.

But a wired connection should be fine I would think :)

Den

Very, very unlikely that it could  :D

Rik

Unlikely, but if the bell wire is connected on the phone wiring, it might just generate enough extra noise, I guess.

I guess I might have been lucky but almost everything in our house is wireless, from phones and doorbells to weather stations, and so far :fingers: Iv'e had no problems with cross interference, the wonder of the digital age I spose :)

Rik

I often wonder about the digital age. ;D

If I find myself answering a phone call from my doorbell, then I'll start to worry :eyebrow:

Rik

You mean you don't? I regularly answer the microwave.

We don't have a Microwave, never have, never will. I am sure I can cook with the amount of wifi radiation zooming about this place with phones, dual band router, wireless doorbell, wireless blu-ray and the static I build up off the carpet that zaps Justina   ;D
Damned, if you do damned if you don't
