Seeing as there is a thread for the iPhone I thought I would start one for the (imo) superior Android OS.

I currently have the HTC Hero which is phenominal....

Any other Android users and if so what are you favourite/best apps.

Not me, John, I'm a dumb phone user. ;)

I'm a wannabe Android user.  I like the look of the phones, but have a concern about the Google influence.

Is it possible not to have yet another bout of what platform is superior, as long as you like it, that's all the matters.  ::) We already have had IE spats with Firefox and vice versas, OSX vs Windows and now someone wants to start a Android vs iphone debate, that quote "imo superior" could be argued again and again and again, and it does not help. Constructive descriptions of a platform so people can make there own mind up which would suit them is much better than starting a possible flame war. All platforms have there plus and minus points and no one OS is ever perfect or truly better than another, its all down to what you want and if you like it  :)
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Whilst I agree about avoiding platform wars, I can't see the problem with an Android discussion thread, Gary, and I think this is all it's intended to be. :)

I don't see the problem with having an Android thread. Oh, and imho, it's not superior to iPhone OS. ;D

johnhol

iPhone owner Gary???

This is purely a Android discussion....best apps etc.

On mine I tend to use ShopSavvy, Google Maps, GPS Status, beebplayer and Meebo IM the most.

And some of the games are ridiculously addictive...especially RoboDefense......be warned...

There is a reason that you can't set an mp3 as a ringtone. But you can do it, and you don't need an app, no.

johnhol

My ringtone is an MP3 and I've not used an app.

Sebby

Perhaps they changed it in 3.0...

Anyway, this is an Android thread, so we should keep on topic. ;D

T-Mobile Pulse (Android 1.5) new user - previously had Nokia for years and years. I can also confirm that you can use an MP3 as a ringtone without an app.

Favourite apps:
Shazam
er....that's it! Some others I use are the Youtube one and Google Maps. Both WiFi Analyzer & WiFinder are useful as well but I'm not (Yet) really and app person.

Favourite games:
Jewels - old game but very addictive!
Yz Free for all the Yahtee fans
OpenSudoku for all the Sudoku fans

Things I don't like about the phone:
No flash for the camera
Battery life

I guess I just don't trust google  ;) I would like to know whats happening to my information a bit more, and not in google speak

I don't trust Google either - but then again I don't trust Apple or indeed any major corporation as they ALL have an interest in our data. The people who make me laugh are those who slate Microsoft over things like Windows Activation and then sign up to Facebook where they willingly put in all their personal information including photos, real addresses, multiple email addresses, real telephone numbers and so on!

That's such a good point, Inky!  :thumb:
