noticed i started having problems loading pages

the BT speed test showed my though put at 199k   :eek4:

trying to do the test 2 but the router say that my PPP username is incorrect

ive set it to bt_test_user@uk.idnet.dsl4

probably wrong but im having one of those days

Rik

I don't think the test user login works anymore, Colin, just use your normal IDNet username and password. There have been problems with LINX, which are supposedly fixed, but some sites are definitely running slow.

i intially tryed it with my normal username and password. and complained

Just to clarify its the 2wire thats complaining not the bt test site

Rik

Sorry, but why are you changing the router settings, Colin, did the BT site tell you to?

My pings and throughput are very poor at present I noticed it started this afternoon and has got gradually worse. adsl stats are fine and unchanged (adsl max idnet via hostlink)

Download speedachieved during the test was - 269 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7150 Kbps

it was the BT site that asked me to change it rik

just shut the router down and turned back on after about 20mins and things are looking much better

Steve

Well I've swapped the modem/router and as you say Colin its intermittently normal.I'll blame BT and presumably all will be well tomorrow or the next day. ;)

Hi,

I'm new here, just moved to idnet from freedom2surf. Switched on Monday evening and all seemed good but through put yesterday evening and now is appaling - exactly as other posters. Is this typical for idnet ? Not impressed so far.

Glenn

 :welc: bsw :karma:

No it's not typical, as I'm sure the others affected will tell you. If you can run and save a couple of BT speedtests and let support have them in the morning, then they will be able to help you.

:welc: :karma: Its not typical for me, my connection has been excellent ever since the hostlink went live . I am interested a few are suffering presumably in different parts of the country, as Glenn suggested contact support tomorrow if all is not well, you should get a positive response.

I was wondering, since non WBC are now on the host link does that mean out MTU would be different? That could effect throughput? my Router suggested 1492, now netgears come with 1458 I think as standard, but when auto setting up it went for 1492, first time I have seen that, I have it on 1500 and all is fine, but I was wondering if MTU may have changed for all concerned now, whether  on WBC or not  :dunno:
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

I set the Macbook at 1450 but it seems to have made no difference. I predicted that this afternoon throughput would be poor and it is , I suspect IDNet will confirm tomorrow that my exchange is congested.
