I saw this posted on another technical forum from a very knowledgable member, maybe of interest.
QuoteIf you do a Google search you will see that the latest version of Acronis is getting terrible reviews from users of previous versions. That is why I went with Macrium rather than upgrade it.
http://www.macrium.com/  There is a free version.

Thanks, Noreen. :karmic:

:thnks: I'm not changing yet though, just keeping it in mind. :)

Rik

Exactly. v10 is fine, when that stops working, we have a fallback.

Satisfied Macrium user here, have been using it for about a year, regular product updates, easy to use and never any problems.
Because I have a bad habit  of playing with Malware and Beta security software I use it quite a bit, never let me down.
Highly recommended  :thumb:

It does look a lot like Acronis TI, doesn't it? Is it just as easy to use?

DarkStar

I've not used actually Acronis Noreen, when I first decided to get a backup program I looked at quite a few and did install Acronis but couldn't really get my head round some of the instructions and as there was some pretty bad feedback on forums at the time I uninstalled and passed it up. Had a look at several of the others and it came down to Macrium or ShadowProtect but with the price of SP that I simply couldn't afford at the time I tried Macrium and have never regretted it.
I have found it so simple to use and you can set up a short cut on the desk top to open an XML file and literally just start the back up from there. I only do full back ups, and do not have the external hard drive connected to the USB except when doing a back up.

I only do full back-ups too but I've only ever used Acronis v10, haven't had any trouble with it so far. :fingers:

Rik

Same here. I couldn't be bothered restoring a bunch of incremental versions.

Possibly Acronis TI v10 won't work with Windows 7 (it does with Vista) so might have to change if I ever get that.

Rik

Change nothing then. ;D
