Hey all,

Are there some problems tonight? My line has been unable to connect for a few hours now. Logs are showing unable to connect - auth failure. Line has resynced a few times too and dropped my speed a bit. Grr.
Any other probs around? Shall I mail BT something steamy :)

Simon

Sorry, can't help with the tech stuff, but are you connected now?  Did you try rebooting your router at all?

Whats your router stats> if the SNR level drops to low, generally this happens when the noise is greatest, if you could post your stats from the router that would help  :)
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

No connection at the moment (posting from my mobile). Noticed it at just before midnight after getting in from the pub so don't know when it started. Red light on the router.  However I've been having problems for several weeks since BT "repaired" a line fault that has resulted in my download speed dropping from 3.5Mbps before the line fault to 2Mbps after the "repair".

What router are you using? It could be  stale session perhaps, unplug your router for 30mins and replug, preferably in the morning when you will get better speeds, say 7am, but also you may lose sync if the SNR drops to low at night due to that, you should be looking for a snr of about 6db downstream

It will be BT being rubbish as usual. Outages starting at about midnight and lasting until 3 or 4am are not uncommon here.  The local BT engineering centre is only 5 minutes walk away so I could go and shout at them but that's probably not the best thing to do.

the SNR was only about 7dB which is how my line usually sites. it didn't look like a physical problem because the sync was fine it was just failing to authenticate. will try and VPN home in a bit and see if its back up or not. my rule of thumb is blame BT where possible.

I had a few problems last night also. The net was very slow and worked only intermitantly from approx 9pm until it went down altogether around 11pm.

'Tis fine today though  :)

I blame BT  ;D

Rik

It shouldn't have been the same issue affecting you, though.  :dunno:

No idea then Rik!

I was syncing to the exchange ok. And had intermitent hassles until I got the dreaded red internet light.
