I think the Acer 5735Z laptop is a load of rubbish and I wish we never bought it. We originally bought it from Currys a few months ago (as my wife gets a discount as a previous employee) and it was advertised in the press and on their website that it had a built in web cam and even the large sticky label plastered all over on it states Video Conferencing, but how that does that without a web cam is beyond me. Also on the same label it states the specs and the wireless spec is stated as an Acer Nplify 802.11b/g/Draft-N, when in fact it has an Atheros AR5B91 adaptor, which when I looked up the specs on Google is a Dual Band 2.4/5Ghz wireless N adaptor. I have installed the very latest driver and there is nothing that I can find on the laptop to set the the channel width at all. I have tried all wireless N settings on the Netgear DGND3300v2 and still the Acer will still only connect at 54mbps.

I would take the Acer back stating it's not fit for purpose and they will have to replace or refund.

A friend of mine bought an Acer PC from Comet and had a nightmare trying to replace it, even thought the monitor never ever worked.

The router I ordered I think on Friday has just been delivered,got the RMA number so the other one goes back later also returning the router which belongs to A&A as its changeover tomorrow with luck.

I am glad I have got this new any issues there might be at least I can use support at Netgear,hopefully there will be none,I will have my wireless connection so can set up a LAN...

Once switched I think I am right in thinking that with this I will just need the info IDNet sent me,login details and password ?

I see the label in the box states Download latest firmware before installation..is this an easy action ?

Sounds Double Dutch...if I have to go on the web to upgrade the firmware would this not already be in use  ???

Follow the instructions on this page David.

once downloaded, connect the router if its not already connected.

Open your browser and go to 192.168.0.1 and login.
username : admin
password : password

click on router upgrade in the left hand menu and then click the browse button and locate the firmware you just downloaded.

If its the same note i had on mine, It tells you to update the firmware with a website url aswell.

Well if its the first time they've had an internet connection then yes, thats a silly message.

But i'm sure most people will do what i did. Connect the router first then update it  ;D

Well atleast they listened about one thing.. When the router first came out they didnt give the plastic feet with it, people complained it got to hot led down.

When i got mine i was expecting to use my white plastic feet on it but they put a pair of black ones in the box  ;D plus the router doesn't get as hot as the reviews say (unless they did more changes to the latest ones)
