Compatible Ink Cartridges

Has anyone any recommendations for compatible ink cartridge suppliers ?

I have used Choice Stationary in the past but the original cartridges in my Canon Pixma MP620 need replacing soon and I have found a company called 'Prink' that are a quite bit cheaper than Choice and they also state how much ink is in them too.

Has anyone else used Prink or can you recommend any other suppliers.

sorry too John  never used Prink but always use Choice Stationery for my carts.find them very good, good enough for my needs any way

Thanks for your replies Rik and Baz but original Canon ones are £50 (from Amazon) for a set of 5 cartridges whilst Prink are £18.95 for the same set but I believe are also higher capacity (i.e. 13ml instead of 9ml for the colour ones).

I have used compatible cartridges in the past and they've been okay.

If nobody can recommend anywhere else I'll probably either give Prink a try or get them from Choice Stationary.

Have you looked at MX2, John? I have saved a lot over the years by buying from them.

Thanks Rik, although MX2 say under their name 'food for enthusiasts' so I initially thought it was a Donald Russell type site 

They are slightly cheaper than choice, but not as much as Prink. They do say they put as much ink as they can into their cartridges but don't specify exactly how much. Still they're worth considering though.

I've only bought manufacturer's cartridges from them, John, but the service has always been good and the prices competitive.

Same here, I think for good quality photo printing you need to, of course if its just used for printing text or diagrams it does not matter so much

Agreed, but all my printers do get used for photos, the Canon only for photos. In the same way, I buy manufacturer's papers, because the chemistry is matched to the inks.

Thanks Gary I take your point that for photo printing (especially where the best results are required) then it's probably best to use the manufacturers original cartridges and paper but I rarely if ever do any photoprinting, it's usually just a black and white text document or colour if it's for my daughters homework.

My cannon printer is mostly used for photo printing so I always use the correct ink, if I use it for anything else I set it to monochrome only, and then on an ink saving level so nothing is to bold.

Always used compatibles (no photo printing). Will definitely give Prink a close examination, thanks for the heads up Always found 'Choice' excellent value for my everyday needs (up to now!)

I recently tried compatible inkjet cartridges for my HP Photosmart from Wilkinsons (Wilko).

They were excellent and much cheaper. I'll certainly use them again.

I just got some inks for my Canon Pixma ip 4300 from http://www.internet-ink.co.uk/

Can't vouch for their quality yet (I haven't had to change one - but I will soon), but service was very good and prices were reasonable, too. Pre-chipped too, no no messing around swapping chips and fiddling with little bits of double sided gunk.

same here. Ive had maybe 3 dodgy cartridges from them in about 6 years, honest. got on the phone and they said they will send a replacement, didnt even have to send the old one back.

I buy from this guy in Wrexham and he has a online shop. I have never had a bad cartridge off him and his prices are good.

Thanks for the Link Den, he may well be cheaper but I don't like it when you have to negotiate a discount yourself, you may get a discount but I always think that perhaps someone with better negotiating skills could have got a better discount and that maybe I've paid more than I needed to. Either that or he gives the same discount to everybody who asks but will charge more if people don't. I'd much prefer to deal with someone who is prepared to publish the price so that you can readily compare it with others. One of the advantages of buying things online is that you can search and compare prices easily without having to phone several places to ask the price.

Ink&Media  I have been using these for quite a while and their prices are very good.  I don't use manufacturers cartridges but compatible ones form Jettec.  The quality is just as good as the originals plus you get 30-50% more ink to use.

Thanks Alf, they appear to be of good quality but they were still more expensive than Prink or Choice Stationary.

I've decided to give Prink a try and if they don't live up to expectations then I'll go back to Choice Stationary who have been okay in the past.
