having been away sometime, i,ve lost touch with many things, one of which is some extra options id net have over christmas,can someone point me in the right direction, to find out if this is the 1gb /sec download speed i dream about ?

Not exactly, Bob. From Christmas Day to New Year's Day, inclusive, the 'bandwidth clock' will be stopped, and your usage will not count against your allowance. Put another way, you can use your month's allowance before Xmas Day and not incur excess bandwidth charges. In January, the 'clock' will not start until the 2nd. The announcement is here.
