Modem Stats?

Hey all :)

This isn't anything to do with IDNet really, but I want to know anyway.

How do I find the line stats using my modem? It's a Linksys ADSL2MUE modem. I'm currently syncing at 7mb (yay!) but would like to find out my line stats so I can see if I can improve them.

Any ideas?

On my Linksys AG241, any stats that it gives are on the DSL Connection page on the Status tab. I'd expect your page titles to be similar, though not necessarily identical.

Due to the way my router and modem are set up, I can't actually be connected to the net while viewing my modem page. There doesn't seem to be any space there for it though.

Well, it doesn't look anyhing like mine... :(

I'm prepared to be corrected, but I don't think you'll be able to get line stats unless you are connected to the internet. Or at least, are sync'd in to the ADSL carrier.

But I'm not familiar with modems (only ever used modem/routers) so someone else may need to help you out...

Thanks :)

Unfortunately there's nothing in that review about line stats. I'm guessing it might not be possible :(

I am synced when I'm in the modem setup, just haven't been authenticated. It shows me at what speed I'm synced at (7808 / 448).

Ah well... worth a try :)

Dannii, according to a few forums I`ve read, it is dependant on the firmware. Your line stats should be under Status page, if they`re not there then you may not have them, unless someone knows a string command to use via Telnet?

There are at present no firmware updates for your kit, though some users have had success upgrading to the Australia or New Zealand firmware ... I wouldn`t recommend it though ;)

Danni

I decided to upgrade to the Australian firmware (since I am using the modem in bridged mode- and I just prayed it wouldn't kill it :P).

It worked, and I now can get my line stats! Yay!

Connection Status   Connected
Us Rate (Kbps)   448
Ds Rate (Kbps)   7648

US Line Attenuation   23

Thank you very much! Now all I've got to do is to work out exactly what they mean... :P
