Anyone else having password issues on the forum this morning?

I had some strangeness logging in, and had to resort to changing the password as the forum seemed to have forgotten mine.

Anyone else, or is it just mine?
Cheers,

No problems here Ian, have you cleared down your cookies since you last logged in?

It certainly hasn't affected me, but I can see five people with password issues in the past 24 hours. What I can't see is whether they are using a cookie to keep them logged in, or entering the password manually.

Changing the password was all that would work - doing anything else just bounced off the thing!

Oh and manual or auto, the problem was simply unyielding.

Ho hum..........<shrug>

In other forums, a locked out account is usually a sign that some spyware or advertising bots are targeting the forum. They try to brute force the passwords, and get forumites locked out as a result (too many password retries). However I'm sure Rik could see that. Al though I'm not sure how up to date this forum is. Do the cobwebs give indications of DOS and brute force attacks?  ;)

As far as I am aware, the forum software is fully up to date, Ben, and we install all security updates as soon as they appear on the SMF website.

And we also are proactive in dealing with bots and suspected hostile attacks.

Oh I was not commenting on your service. It's great. Just how PHP has been around since 1995. It's still my favourite forum software though. Hopefully we won't have to install a CAPTCHA.
