Weather affecting connection

Looks like the snow is affecting my connection around here. router has re-synced twice in last 15 minutes and dropped from 9mb to 6,7mb.

it's probably not Bury St Edmunds - but my connection has been resyncing a lot too. Don't think thats related to the Peterborough problems but it also seems to coincide with the snow / rain / wind changing direction...

I noticed my routers started doing this too, first noticed yesterday, I'm on Tranent exchange in Scotland, doubt anyone else here is  :D

How wonderful, today's re-sync has reduced my connection from the 8128 I usually have down to 1152. I hope that one day the person(s) responsible for the entire BT profiling system are taken out and dealt with severely  >:( >:(

Things a little slower than usual here, although maybe that's because a lot of people are at home rather than the weather itself.

Have you had a look here recently http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/ I know its a bit out of date but its been correct for mine lately i.e its showing it to be congested and it is.

Yeah, and all the local schools are closed so there's probably far more people online Atm.

I've also noticed my IP profile has dropped from 6000Kbps to 5500Kbps and my DSL connection rate has dropped from 7360Kbps to 6208 Kbps. I've got a connection up time of 1 day 16 hours, so not sure if this drop could have been caused by an unstable connection?

Possibly unrelated but I noticed that my router's multiplexing method is set to LLC-BASED, when the information I received from IDNet states it should be VC. It's working with this setting, so is it worth changing?

Mine is set to Routed VC-Mux, give it a try and see what happens.

Things seem to have returned to normal here after all this weather. Well I say normal.... BT Speed tester botched?

I'd like to discuss these results with my ISP yes they are simply outstanding, an ISP that can really push copper to it's limits  ;D ;D

I think BT Speed Test is certainly botched. (see attached file)

Although I've noticed my profile has dropped further to 5000 kbps.  :(

Does the Netgear DG834G record these anywhere; couldn't see them in the logs.

Sorry if I'm being a bit thick here, but I am I looking at the right thing (see attached screenshot)?

If so, which part indicates the error count?

No, they're not there. It's ages since I used a Netgear, what menu options do you have in the left column?

Depending on the model, this might work:

Enter this in the browser address bar:

http://192.168.0.1/setup.cgi?todo=debug

which should result in a screen which just says 'Debug enable'.
(That's assuming that you haven't changed the router's IP address from the default).

Then exit from the web interface and open a command-line window. Type:

telnet 192.168.0.1

You should get a BusyBox welcome message to confirm that your telnet connection is established.

Now type:

cat /proc/avalanche/avsar_modem_stats

It's a DG834G v5, I got the message "'telnet' is not recognized as an internal or external comman, operable program or batch file" when I typed "telnet 192.168.0.1".
